VEB.RF: Global AI to Consume as Much Electricity as Present-Day Canada by 2027

Artificial intelligence will consume as much electricity as present-day Canada by 2027. This was stated by Alexander Pavlov, Chief Managing Partner for Artificial Intelligence Development, VEB.RF, speaking at Russian International Creative Seasons.

According to him, any task performed by an artificial neural network consumes approximately 0.8 W.

“At present, these figures add up to colossal total power consumption. Artificial intelligence will consume as much electricity as the whole of Canada by 2027. Russia, in that regard, is in a better starting position due to its resilient energy system,” Alexander Pavlov said.

The evolution of neural networks brings about a tectonic shift in the creation of products, according to Alexander Pavlov. It is, therefore, necessary to either follow or set the trend. “Artificial intelligence is becoming a key topic in technological development and an impact on economic sectors and industries,” he said.

Alexander Pavlov added that creative industries were trendsetters and consumers in this area of technology. “Currently, one of VEB.RF’s main priorities is technological leadership, which is why we are working with the group’s entities to build up a cohesive chain of products and mechanisms to deliver a new quality of services and solutions to companies, the private sector, and customers and create a new quality of life in this country,” he said.
