Manufacturer of Domestic Alumina Catalysts and Adsorbents Begins Operation in Tutaev with Support from VEB.RF

With support from VEB.RF, an integrated manufacturer of domestic alumina catalysts and adsorbents has been created in the single-industry town of Tutaev, Yaroslavl Region. The project is carried out by TKZ Real Sorb (part of the Real Sorb Group).

Integrated production processes are designed to help the new facility to deal with the issue of its dependence on imported raw materials and boost its output. Finished products will be supplied to oil refineries, petrochemicals companies, gas processing plants, and steel mills. The employer will pay an average monthly wage of 75,000 roubles. Only in the first year of operation, the manufacturer will generate at least 110 million roubles in regional tax revenues (exclusive of tax benefits).

Mikhail Yevraev, Governor of the Yaroslavl Region: “The advanced development zone created in Tutaev boosts the town’s investor appeal. The existing premises of the Master industrial park make it possible now to carry out high-tech industry projects, and greenfield projects to build production facilities in the Tutaev industrial park are implemented with support from the regional Development Corporation and its partners. These processes contribute to import substitution, job creation, and the strengthening of the regional economy. While the Tutaev advanced development zone had eight residents in 2021, an additional 12 were attracted last year. Currently, 20 organisations and businesses work there.”

Irina Makieva, Chief Managing Partner for Urban Development, VEB.RF: “The company opened by Real Sorb in Tutaev today will make products that previously had to be purchased abroad. This will enable a great many petrochemicals companies and steel mills to buy necessary raw materials in the Russian market.

“In 2024, VEB.RF lent about 250 million roubles to the project worth almost 900 million roubles.”

Aleksey Zelenov, CEO, Real Sorb Group: “Our project is unique in the industry because it combines advanced domestic industrial expertise, technological innovation, and a strategic partnership with the public sector, thus creating a new regional centre of excellence in central Russia. When implemented, the project will make a significant contribution to the region’s industrial growth and the country’s import substitution.”

The Yaroslavl Region Government and TKZ Real Sorb signed the cooperation agreement for investment project implementation during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2023, and the concessional loan was provided by VEB.RF in July 2024. In December 2024, the new company became a resident of the advanced development zone created in the single-industry town of Tutaev, which makes it eligible for government support in the form of tax relief.
