Skolkovo Hosts Discussion of How Development Institutions Contribute Towards Technological Leadership

Because of global competition and rapid technological advancement, development institutions have a key role in achieving and supporting Russia’s technological leadership. The VEB.RF Group creates a favourable ecosystem for start-ups, scientific research, and introducing new technologies into Russia. This was discussed today at a meeting held in Skolkovo by the special working group coordinating the activities of development institutions under the Presidential Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.

VEB.RF-coordinated development institutions are active in investing in high-potential projects and start-ups, providing them with access to financial and non-financial support. They help business owners to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions by offering the necessary expertise and advice, according to the participants in the meeting.

The working group believes that Russia has created strong foundations for technological sovereignty, which lays the basis for the next stage of technological advancement, namely the country’s leadership in this area. Russia is implementing numerous import substitution projects in civil aviation, automotive manufacturing, unmanned systems, and other high-technology industries.

One of the key aspects of technological leadership is to increase the export potential of domestic products. In this area, Russian high-technology is globally competitive.

The experts also noted at the meeting that it was necessary to create tools to support long-term demand for high technology within and outside the country.

According to the participants, the working group’s results should include enabling all development institutions to be involved in every stage of business development.
