Created with VEB.RF’s participation, the new terminal in Kamchatka has begun handling regular passenger flights. The first customers were passengers of Aeroflot flights from Moscow, and passengers of Kamchatka Airlines flights to Magadan.

VEB.RF’s commitment under the project to build the new airport terminal totals 16.9 billion roubles, including 5.45 billion roubles in concessional financing through the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East.

The passenger service area in the new terminal is 33,000 square metres, which is five times more than in the old terminal. The capacity increased from 360 to 687 passengers per hour, and after the launch of the international sector, it will reach 1,145 passengers per hour. The check-in area is equipped with 30 check-in counters: 15 counters for domestic flights and 15 for international flights. Jet bridges are used for disembarking and boarding aircraft. For the first time in Kamchatka, a passenger movement system was implemented using enclosed galleries, which is especially important for the harsh and changeable weather conditions of the region. In total, the terminal is equipped with five jet bridges with the possibility of increasing their number to eight.

The total area of the airport terminal, which will also include a hotel, a congress hall, and shopping areas, will exceed 50,000 square metres.

Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Airport is the region’s only facility capable of handling aircraft with a large take-off weight, ensuring the operation of regular air passenger services of all types: international, interregional, and local.

VEB.RF pays special attention to projects aimed at developing the airport infrastructure of the Far East. In total, 21 airport terminals have been and are being financed with support from VEB.RF; passengers are already being served in six cities of the Far East and the Arctic (Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Magadan, Ulan-Ude, Novy Urengoy and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky). By the end of 2025, new terminals will be put into operation in two more cities in the Far East and the Arctic. With financial support from VEB.RF under the new Strategy, there are plans to put airport terminals into operation in ten more cities by 2030.
