VEB.RF Provides RUB4bn Soft Loan for Blagoveshchensk Airport Modernisation

VEB.RF has honoured its commitment of 4 billion roubles on concessional terms for the modernisation of Blagoveshchensk International Airport. The financing will be used as payment for front-end engineering design, construction and installation, and equipment.

Recognised as a high priority at a meeting of the Presidium of the Government Commission on the Socio-economic Development of the Far East and the Arctic, the project is one of the key components of the master plan developed with support from VEB.RF.

VEB.RF has committed a total of 12.1 billion roubles for the construction of the new airport terminal and airfield infrastructure of Blagoveshchensk (Ignatyevo) Airport. In addition to the soft loan, 8.1 billion roubles will be borrowed on market terms.

Aviation is the main form of transport in the Amur Region, both for the interregional air service and for local operations using small aircraft. Designed to serve up to 1,000 passengers per hour, the new airport terminal will help to ensure adequate flight safety, improve passenger service quality, increase tourist flow, put enhanced air mobility in place in the Amur Region, and expand cross-border cooperation with China.
