VEB.RF Estimates Its Portfolio of High-Potential Export Projects at RUB1tn

According to President Vladimir Putin, speaking to a meeting of the Russian State Council about measures to boost exports, Russia remains actively involved in international trade and develops economic ties with predictable, reliable foreign partners. The key objectives include increasing non-resource non-energy exports, developing transport corridors and logistics, and supporting and stimulating efforts to enter the markets for high value-added goods. This work is already well under way, involving businesses and development institutions. Specifically, VEB.RF Chairman Igor Shuvalov estimated VEB.RF’s portfolio of high-potential export projects at 1 trillion roubles.

In his opening remarks to the State Council Presidium about measures to boost exports, Vladimir Putin stated the need to develop the infrastructure for encouraging Russian exports: “It is necessary to take measures to break down logistical barriers to Russian exports, provide end-to-end transport solutions, primarily for the emerging markets of the Global South, Africa and Latin America—in fact, these are our long-time partners, the traditional markets for our exports.”

According to the head of state, extensive work continues on developing international transport corridors such as North-South, corridors towards the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea and towards the East, and the Northern Sea Route. Vladimir Putin outlined the importance of coordinating the activities of all links in the export chain: “Transport infrastructure facilities must be brought into operation in alignment with the process of developing logistics services—warehouses, cargo handling terminals, and so forth. And construction deadlines must correspond to plans to increase the supply of goods to friendly countries and enter new, growing markets.”

VEB.RF estimates its portfolio of high-potential export projects at 1 trillion roubles, VEB.RF Chairman Igor Shuvalov told journalists following the meeting of the State Council Presidium about measures to boost exports, adding that the VEB.RF Group’s development institutions would be actively involved in the national export project.

“We estimate VEB.RF’s portfolio of high-potential export projects at 1 trillion roubles. These are projects that stimulate the production of domestic competitive goods in a whole variety of sectors: vehicle manufacturing, power engineering, infrastructure modernisation, industrial equipment. They contribute not only to promoting our foreign trade, but also to achieving the goal of technological leadership. VEB.RF, Russian Export Center, and other development institutions of the VEB.RF Group will be extremely involved in the national export project. The areas of joint work include developing the supporting infrastructure for Russian trade with friendly countries,” said Igor Shuvalov.
