A joint business mission of VEB.RF and Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) in the Lipetsk Region discussed the ways of improving the regional economy and quality of life. The Lipetsk residents have brought forward their improvement proposals and recommendations relating to tourism, demographic policy, youth entrepreneurship and creative industries.
One of the promising trends for the regional tourist sector is creating cultural centres in historic mansions both in rural localities and in small towns.
The business mission’s priorities include supporting technological entrepreneurship. Regional start-ups are implemented by Technopark-Lipetsk, including the production of innovative lighting technology and re-engineering involving 3D printing.
Representatives of development institutions coordinated by VEB.RF informed Lipetsk entrepreneurs attending the session about the federal support for developing and promoting IT products.
Special attention was paid to initiatives under VEB.RF’s Five Steps for Cities Programme. This is a special platform for collecting proposals from residents of about 300 cities, which has already helped to implement more than 22,000 projects.
“For us, the business mission is of great importance. It’s all about strategic goals for the next period. Your region will have a new strategy; the same applies to VEB.RF and ASI. Though our responsibilities differ, all our efforts are focused on improving the well-being of people,” said VEB.RF Chairman Igor Shuvalov.
VEB.RF is actively involved in large infrastructural projects in Lipetsk including the modernisation of public electric vehicles and community facilities, as well as the concession-based school construction. The cooperation between VEB.RF and the Lipetsk Region will also include co-financing of personnel training programmes for regional municipalities.
“We are grateful to VEB.RF for the ongoing projects, in particular, for the municipal training. We see real qualitative changes including new interesting projects and ideas, and a well-conceived vision of what needs to be done. We should broaden our cooperation horizons in the years ahead, including the tourist sector. I am confident that together we will identify new areas for effective cooperation,” said the Governor of the Lipetsk Region Igor Artamonov.
VEB.RF and ASI are organising joint business missions in Russian regions aimed at setting up projects and programmes together with local residents, public authorities and business community to develop specific regions and Russia as a whole.
