VEB.RF’s proposals included in the Shenyang Declaration of the Greater Tumen Initiative

On 6 December 2023, Shenyang (China) hosted the events held by the Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI), an international organisation whose members include Russia, China, Mongolia and the Republic of Korea. RTI’s main goal is to boost the appeal of Mainland North-East Asia as a destination for international investment, trade and business with the aim to achieve the sustainable socio-economic and environmentally sound development of the region.

This year China is the GTI host country, while the Export-Import Bank of China holds the presidency of the North-East Asia Export-Import Banks Association. The events were attended by the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Russian and Chinese Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy and Development of Mongolia, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the Russian Trade Mission in China, Korean and Chinese Eximbanks, the Development Bank of Mongolia, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Liaoning Province public authorities and other organisations. The delegation included the participants from the VEB.RF Group: Oleg Pleshivtsev, Olga Pirogova, Oleg Rakitov, Anton Sobchenko, Tumun Tsydypov and Elena Stepanova.

At the 14th meeting of the North-East Asia Eximbanks, Elena Stepanova spoke on VEB.RF’s airport infrastructure projects in terms of their macroeffects on the Russian economy. Oleg Rakitov and Tumun Tsydypov presented the Baikalsk Development Programme and the project «The way of water», a successful socio-cultural product that might be replicated by GTI members.

At the 23th meeting of the GTI Consultative Commission, Oleg Pleshivtsev reported on sustainable and efficient supply chains driving trade recovery and accelerated economic growth.

The GTI Shenyang Declaration includes the following VEB.RF’s initiatives: a GTI seminar for promoting eco-tourism in March 2024 (Baikalsk, Russia) and joint traineeships with eximbanks to share experience.

VEB.RF’s delegation also visited Shenyang Yuanda Compressor Manufacturing Co., Ltd.’s factory producing compressors based on Swiss technology, in particular, for oil and gas industry.

The Republic of Korea will host the GTI events in 2024, whilst Russia will take over the GTI presidency in 2025.
