BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Discuss Outcomes of Russia’s Presidency on Financial Track

On 9 November, the final meeting of the BRICS Ministers of Finance and Central Bank Governors during Russia’s presidency as well as a meeting of the BRICS Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA) Standing Committee took place via videoconferencing.

The meetings discussed the outcomes of Russia’s presidency on the financial track, the most significant of which was the initiative to create a joint digital platform for BRICS infrastructural projects and project initiatives, along with progress in expanding membership of the New Development Bank (NDB).

VEB.RF’s Deputy Chairperson and Member of the Board Svetlana Yachevskaya spoke about the goals and objectives of the new digital platform and about future measures to bring it into operation. The participants also exchanged views on the current G20 agenda (economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic; implementation of debt initiatives; digital economy taxation).
