Vnesheconombank Makes a Presentation of a System to Support Russian SMEs for British Business Circles

During a business trip of Vnesheconombank’s delegation headed by Management Board Member, Vnesheconombank Deputy Chairman Mikhail Kopeikin to the city of London, the Bank made a presentation of a system to support Russia’s small and medium-sized enterprises for British business circles. The presentation was organized by Vnesheconombank jointly with the Russian embassy in Great Britain and the Russian-British Chamber of Commerce.

The presentation was held as part of the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of small and medium-sized enterprises signed in November of 2010 between the Russian Economic Development Ministry and the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. The Memorandum was signed in the course of the 8th Session of the Russian-British Intergovernmental Steering Committee on Trade and Investments.

The presentation was organized to inform British businessmen about comprehensive efforts to improve legislative regulations, budget management and promote the development of Russian SMEs against the backdrop of the post-crisis recovery and modernization of the Russian economy and transfer it onto an innovation footing.

A top priority was given to creating the Skolkovo Innovation Center and British companies’ potential participation in this project as well as to implementing crucial joint business initiatives on promoting small and medium-sized enterprises.

The presentation was attended by Russian ambassador to Great Britain Alexandr Yakovenko, Russian Trade Envoy in London Victor Spassky, executives of the Russian Development Bank, the All-Russian Organization of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises OPORA ROSSII, the British Co-Chair of the Russian-British Intergovernmental Steering Committee on Trade and Investments, UKTI International Director Nicholas Amor, representatives of British companies and banks.

Mikhail Kopeikin also conducted working meetings with representatives of the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Capital for Enterprise state-run company, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Barclays, Citigroup and other financial institutions and companies. Vnesheconombank and British financial institutions entered into agreements on cooperation in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
