Sergey Pirogov appointed as CEO at VEB Capital, the Investment Company of Vnesheconombank

The Supervisory Board of VEB Capital has resolved to appoint Sergey Pirogov as CEO of the company. He previously worked as Head of the Department for Housing at the Russian Ministry of Defence. He supervised a successfully implemented strategic project to improve the housing situation and radically reduce the number of service personnel in need of housing, including by adopting advanced financial instruments such as housing subsidies and an accumulative mortgage system, and by promoting the system of service accommodation.

As part of VEB Group’s team, Sergey Pirogov will be responsible for VEB Capital’s core areas of operation, including performance improvements in managing the Group’s non-core assets, and executing related restructuring, development, and disposal projects, as well as privatisation of federal property.

Sergey Pirogov was born in Ivanovo on 21 May 1962. In 1983, he graduated with honours from the Yaroslavl Higher Anti-Aircraft Missile Command School of Air Defence. In 1993, he graduated from the Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and in 2003, from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration majoring in Public and Municipal Administration.

He also worked in a number of government agencies, including the Executive Office of the Russian Government. Recipient of the Order of Honour and a number of departmental awards. Full State Counsellor 2nd Class of the Russian Federation. Married with a daughter.
