Teams from over 100 single-industry towns of the Central and Northwestern Federal Districts coached by VEB and the Monotowns Development Fund on new IR techniques

Vnesheconombank and the Monotowns Development Fund (Monotowns Funds) have launched an educational project, Monotowns Development Academy, in Moscow. The project involves management teams from 102 single-industry towns (monotowns) of the Central and Northwestern Federal Districts.

"This project, Monotowns Development Academy, will cover all single-industry towns of Russia. We have already successfully coached management teams from a number of single-industry towns, and our methods have proved to be efficient. Many single-industry towns have already achieved a real breakthrough. All we need to do now is provide them with a strong impetus to reach new heights. In coaching these teams, we mainly focus on project management, on government support for single-industry towns, and on investor relations. An Executive Order signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin identifies twelve national projects, and single-industry towns currently need to apply their new knowledge and technologies towards the successful implementation of these projects," says Irina Makieva, Deputy Chairman at Vnesheconombank and leader of the priority programme, Integrated Development of Single-Industry Towns.

The Academy project has already been put in place in Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, and will also be run in Kaspiysk and Khabarovsk.

Apart from the teams from single-industry towns, the project involves representatives from regional and federal authorities, the business community, and development institutions. In Moscow, the project brought together a total of more than 270 participants.
