Vnesheconombank and NTV have evaluated Siberian startups at a casting for the second season of the Idea Worth a Million TV show

VEB's panel of experts and NTV's producing team have met with the founders of several tens of companies from the Novosibirsk Region, Krasnoyarsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo, and other cities of the Siberian Federal District. Project founders invited to the casting have presented their ideas and developments, including a device reminding of the need to take medicines; a system for remote parent control over children in a summer camp; a transformer bed for patient rehabilitation; a technology to make haberdashery from fish skin; a smart dog collar that monitors the health condition of the pet and identifies its location; a set of bone-conduction headphones combined with glasses; a water treatment project, and many others.

"The casting in Novosibirsk included several high-potential medical rehabilitation projects. These are useful technologies, but turning them into commercial stories often proves to be difficult. Perhaps, similar projects should be embedded into the government procurement programme since in many cases consumers of these products are not retail customers, but hospitals and rehabilitation centres. I hope the authors will be able to present their inventions to a multi-million audience and break new ground in developing their businesses," said Alexey Ivanchenko, Vnesheconombank's Deputy Chairman and Member of the Management Board, commenting on the casting in Siberia.

Technologies presented at the casting are assessed by experts of VEB-Innovations, a subsidiary of Vnesheconombank. Their attention was particularly drawn to Overgrower, an automated hydroponic plant control facility. The facility enables remote monitoring and control over the process of plant growing in greenhouses. Other instruments that have made it to the top include Chatme.ai, which uses artificial intelligence to communicate with customers and employees, as well as a number of other high-tech solutions.

Alexey Alkov, one of the innovators who took part in the first season of the show, has also presented his project at the casting in Novosibirsk. At the first casting, he had presented a project of a virtual planetary, but failed to convince the panel that his idea held promise. He has called his new project Virtual Encyclopaedia. "When I was presenting my project in the first season, I got too nervous, and was not able to fully demonstrate the advantages of my project. The panel of experts did not appreciate our business model and what we were doing. We have made improvements to our product since then. This is a new business idea based on successful past experience. I hope that the struggle for prizes in the second season will be as intense as in the first season.

Experts will announce projects shortlisted for the autumn season in late June after the tour-closing casting in Vladivostok. The prize of the second season is kept secret, but this year, Idea Worth a Million will be of a much larger scale, with a money prize promised to be paid to every participant.
