Vnesheconombank and Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry Announce Contest Among Originators of Production-Oriented Blockchain Solutions
Vnesheconombank continues to carry out the Blockchain Pitch nationwide project to find innovative companies ready to cooperate with public institutions and government-owned corporations in creating and launching blockchain-based pilot projects for manufacturing businesses.
Vnesheconombank will tie up with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation to select promising solutions during the Digital Production and the Future of Industry cluster forum in Naberezhnye Chelny on 15 November 2017. The contest will be judged by experts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Informatisation and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan, government-owned corporations and Russia’s leading industrial companies. The technology partner of the contest will be National University of Science and Technology MISiS.
The Blockchain Pitch nationwide contest is open to teams that can offer working prototypes for solutions intended for use in industrial production. To enter the contest, potential participants must submit an application and a short description of their project. The application deadline is 10 November 2017. The selected teams will have the opportunity to present their projects to Vnesheconombank’s Centre of Blockchain Competencies and, jointly with government-owned corporations and industry majors, test their solutions.

The first Blockchain Pitch session took place on 28 August as part of the Blockchain: New Petroleum of Russia conference hosted by Kazan IT Park. The selected participants were eight companies offering solutions for the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography of the Russian Federation. The evaluation of their presentations and proposed solutions resulted in choosing the four most promising companies. They included Analytics Insight, a Chelyabinsk-based company currently implementing a blockchain-based pilot project for the monitoring and inventory taking of forests in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Vnesheconombank acts as the coordinator of pilot projects to introduce blockchain technology into the public sector and is a member of the working group dealing with the use of blockchain technology in public and corporate management and headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov.
The use of blockchain technology in industrial production is aimed at optimising management processes and reducing production costs. International experience shows that blockchain-based solutions also provide greater transparency for the most sensitive corporate processes, such as procurement, trade payables and receivables, supply chains for spare parts, and logistics for finished products.
