Vnesheconombank helps resume furniture production at Mekran in the Krasnoyarsk territory

The unique furniture manufacturing facilities Mekran resumes its operation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory thanks to VEB’s assistance. The first production facility for laminated wood and planed timber was launched on 20 September when the first batch of European standard batten boards was manufactured. By the end of the week, the production capacity is expected to range 100 to 120 cubic meters of planed timber per day.


Today, the supply of timber and board to Mekran is 100% guaranteed. The supplier is Kraslesinvest owned by Vnesheconombank. The second facility to be put into operation after the launch of the laminated wood and planed timber shop will be the furniture production facility.

“By developing Mekran’s business, Vnesheconombank has been addressing important objectives. These include not only laminated wood and planed timber production, but also construction of facilities for advanced timber processing to ensure full phase-out of imports, primarily, in the kids’ furniture segment. Given that the construction of new schools and kindergartens is among the top national priorities, quality sustainable furniture will definitely be in demand. The equipment installed at Mekran ensures the highest quality and the output that are sufficient for meeting the demand not only in the Krasnoyarsk Territory,” said Pavel Bilibin, Director of Wood Processing Complex Division at Vnesheconombank.



The Kraslesinvest Timber Processing Facility is the largest timber processing project in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. It was founded in 2007 as part of the Integrated Development of the Lower Angara Region national programme. Kraslesinvest is 100% owned by Vnesheconombank. The construction of the sawn wood complex was completed in 2016. The facilities have cutting-edge equipment enabling production of up to 550,000 cubic meters of sawn wood per annum. Kraslesinvest was commissioned to get re-launched the operation of unique furniture producer Mekran. The Mekran rehabilitation project was approved by the Krasnoyarsk Territory Government.
