VEB-Leasing (the VEB Group), United Aircraft Corporation and Aeroflot agreed on the purchase and lease of 20 Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes. The deal was officially sealed during the International Aviation and Space Exhibition MAKS in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
For VEB-Leasing, the contracts were signed by Vnesheconombank’s Chairman Sergey Gorkov, for Aeroflot—by its Director General Vitaliy Saveliev, for United Aircraft Corporation—by UAC’s President Yuriy Slyusar.
Vnesheconombank’s subsidiary will acquire 20 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircrafts for subsequent lease to Aeroflot. The jets will be delivered in an 87-seat, two-class configuration. The total contract value is US$ 702 million.
The lease for each aircraft will run 12 years of the transfer date. The first plane is scheduled to be delivered by VEB-Leasing as early as this summer, another twelve by the end of the year and eight more by July 2018. The jets will be used on domestic routes and routes between Russia and Europe/CIS countries.
“Vnesheconombank’s new strategy sets the aviation industry as a priority area for high-tech investments. The deal will contribute to the development of Russia’s aviation, fleet upgrade, extension of domestic and international flights network and service quality improvement. Vnesheconombank plays an important role in promoting SSJ100 to internal and external markets. To this end, we have created a range of support instruments, such as customer credit facilities, loan and lease finance and export credit insurance,” said Sergey Gorkov.
“We are happy to continue cooperation with Russia’s leading airline. Adding SSJ100 to Aeroflot’s fleet signals confidence in our product. And we have been doing our best and will continue doing our best to ensure our planes align to international quality standards,” UAC’s President Yuriy Slyusar commented.

Throughout the company's history, Aeroflot has always been the major buyer of Russian aviation products. We put Russian aircraft in operation, help with adjustment and widely use them on commercial flights. I am confident that we will see further development of our cooperation for the benefit of Russian aviation industry and Russia in general,” stated Aeroflot’s Director General Vitaliy Saveliev
Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a Russian regional passenger jet developed and manufactured by Sukhoi Company with Vnesheconombank’s financial support.
