VEB-Leasing signs US$ 1.2 billion worth in agreements with CFM for the order of CFM LEAP engines

The VEB-Leasing company (VEB Group) is announcing an order for CFM International LEAP-1A engines for 20 new Airbus A320neo/A321neo aircraft with deliveries set to begin in 2019. Also, VEB-Leasing has a standing order for 22 new Boeing 737MAX aircraft powered by CFM International LEAP-1B engines with deliveries planned for 2018.

All operators across the globe are considered by the company as potential customers for the above-mentioned Boeing- and Airbus-manufactured aircraft, with the expansion of its presence being strategically important.

CFM estimates the deal under the two agreements at more than US$ 1.2 billion in catalogue prices.

“We are very glad about the prospect of getting LEAP engines in the leasing portfolio of our company,” said Yuri Gaichenya, VEB-Leasing Deputy General Director. “The LEAP engines have an exceptional reputation for their serviceability and we believe that they will become a real asset for us and our customers.”

The LEAP-1A engine went into commercial operation in August 2016. It dramatically improves fuel efficiency, significantly cuts CO2 emissions, lowers noise levels and reduces the NOx discharge. The LEAP -1B engine was released in May 2017. Today, the fleet of in-service engines has made over 77 thousand flight cycles, scoring more than 145,000 hours of flying time.

VEB-Leasing JSC provides services in financial leasing for various types of vehicles and technological equipment in Russia and abroad. The company’s chief priorities are strategically important segments such as infrastructure and equipment. The company concludes leasing deals for new and used civil aircraft, transport aircraft and business aviation aircraft, providing financial leasing services for operating railway rolling stock, helicopters, motor vehicles, river- and sea-going vessels and manufacturing equipment. The company actively cooperates with Russia’s major manufacturers including the United Aircraft Corporation, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, Irkut Corporation, Russian Helicopters, and such transnational giants as Boeing and Airbus. CFM International has been established on the parity basis by GE and Safran Aircraft Engines. The engine has become the best-selling product in the entire history of commercial aviation. CFM has received orders for more than 12 500 LEAP engines of all three models.
