Vnesheconombank Deputy Chairman Participates in the Conference of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia
Board Member – Vnesheconombank Deputy Chairman Mikhail Kopeikin participated in the session of the 12th annual conference of the American Chamber of Commerce. The conference was held on October 10 in Moscow.
The conference’s main theme was business climate in Russia. In the course of the conference its participants discussed criteria established within the Global Innovation Index (GII) which determines potential of a country’s sustainable economic development. In particular, they discussed mechanisms for increasing efficiency of regulating business environment, main lines of economic development and implications of Russia’s joining the WTO.
Special attention was given to issues of developing efficient mechanisms for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. Mikhail Kopeikin said, “With a view to best practices of leading foreign development banks we plan to expand application of various instruments for funding small and medium-sized enterprises including through setting up a special Russian-German Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Development Fund”.
In the attendance of the conference were representatives of international business community, leading Russian and American politicians, experts and economists.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham)) was established in early 1994 as a non-government organization of US business circles undertaking its activity in Russia. In January of 1994 it was accredited under the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
AmCham’s main objective is to help to create more favorable conditions for trade-economic, industrial and investment cooperation between American businessmen and their Russian partners.
