In the course of Russian Prime Minister V.V Putin’s working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, State Corporation ‘Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)’ and HSBC Plc (Great Britain) entered into Credit Agreements.
On behalf of Vnesheconombank the Agreements were signed by Vnesheconombank Chairman Vladimir Dmitriev, on behalf of HSBC Bank Plc – by Peter Luketa, Global Head of Export Credit and Global Specialised Finance HSBC Bank Plc, London.
Under the Agreements signed, HSBC Bank Plc is to extend to Vnesheconombank credit resources worth 160 million euros in the ruble equivalent to fund a contract with Danish Company FLSmidth against the coverage of Eksport Kredit Fonden (EKF) for a period of 10 years and 5 billion rubles to fund advance payments and local expenses.
The raising of credit resources in Russian rubles against the guarantees of the insurance agency is a sign of foreign creditors’ increased trust in the Russian economy, Russia’s national currency and Vnesheconombank.
The amount of this transaction in Russian rubles is an all time high in terms of export structural financing in the post-crisis period.
The funds raised are to be used for funding the project aimed at the construction of a cement plant with a capacity of 3.5 million tons in the Kaluga region. The project is being implemented by the Kaluga Cement Plant (LLC). The total value of the plant’s construction is 651.6 million euros.
HSBC Bank Plc (HSBC) is a holding company incorporating banks, insurance and investment institutions. HSBC is the second largest bank in terms of assets amount in Great Britain and has a wide network of branches and subsidiary banks abroad including its subsidiary bank in Russia – HSBC (RR) (LLC), Moscow.
Eksport Kredit Fonden (EKF) is a Danish state-run export credit agency responsible for supporting Danish producers and exporters on the world’s markets.
